In keeping with the Chinese New Year "Year of the Rabbit" theme, two images of a rabbit design in black and white.

Rabbit Totems
Two rabbit designs influenced by the "totem pole" animals carved by the Pacific Northwest/British Columbia Coastal Native American tribes.
2011 is the "Year of the Rabbit" and the Chinese New Year is February 3rd.
Cheers and Enjoy!

Circle Series Finale
Life is but a Maze
Life is but a maze, rolling merrily, merrily along the way.
Through the twists and turns,
rowing through the currents of time.
Passing the events that give
us a history and memories.
Wrong turns are made,
lessons learned, new choices made when the right turn comes our way
Life is more than just
a dream.
Living is life
Cheers and Enjoy!!

An Interlude
It Could Fly
a solo piece, not belonging to a series. I really liked the way this one turned out. Gave the figure some claws at the end to tie into the overall theme.

Circle Series 9
and the Beat Goes On
this one follows another passion of mine: Drums, not just playing the drums but also the many types of drums from around the world. I rarely play these days though I still have a pair of drumsticks I occasionally take out and use whatever surface is available and cannot cause damage to. I want to get one of the medium sized Japanese drums (Kodo) to play around on. The "sticks" for these are fairly thick and require full arm movements to play. Sounds like fun!!

Session Series Finale
Coral Life
5 sessions/ 3 days
Last drawing for this series. It seems 10 drawings per series is where I'm calling the stopping point and moving on to something new.
This one works perfect for the finale. Very "busy" but I can see the coral and some fishes up toward the top of the drawing.
Do you have a favorite from this series?
Cheers and Enjoy!!

Circle Series 8
Pyroclastic Avalanche/ Wind and Waves
Waves, a volcano, and the results from this. That is where the title comes from and the "scene" I first saw from this drawing. The "complete" circle below involves more "wind" and presents a more chaotic situation.
Cheers and Enjoy!

Session Series 9
Big Ass Grin
1 session/ 1 day
Well, I think this one is pretty obvious, though the title refers to two different areas of the piece rather than just one. This one is only one session, but one very long session, close to an hour of constant drawing. I will usually take breaks to stretch or take a few moments to look at the piece while drawing. This one, no such thing, though my neck and back were a bit sore from being in one position for that long, however sometimes it happens and this piece wanted to be finished.
Cheers and enjoy!

Session Series 8
Just Before Dawn
4 sessions/ 2 days
A long time coming for this title. The drawing had a mechanical feel to it at first, but as it progressed, the overall shape took effect and the "sleepy" bird became prevalent.

Session Series 7
Bloom
4 sessions/ 4 days
This one took some time because I was not "seeing" anything at all. I was thinking that this one would turn out to be "truly" abstract. However, during the final session I began drawing the what would become the "petals" and the title came to me from that. I love these drawings and the series has proven to be a bit popular over on my Deviant Art page. Link up and to the left

Session Series 6
Not Found in the Fossil Records
3 sessions/ 2 days
When I finished this one, it reminded me of a fossil from a long, long time ago. One not yet recorded by man (or woman) It could still be out there, we just have not found it yet!
Cheers and enjoy!

Circle Series 6
The Fourth Seal
Maybe ya'll have been noticing a rather common theme over the past few drawings? I did a few days ago and it may be that my "year" in the Chinese horoscope is coming up. February 3 marks the Chinese New Year with the "Year of the Rabbit"
Be sure to check in with "Sam's World" the first week of February because I have done a weeks worth of toons, all "rabbit" related.
Cheers and Enjoy!!

Lion in the Storm
number 5 in the series is a two for one. I had started drawing the "lion" circle using the "negative space from the original "storm" sketch and decided to combine the two
