The Panels: Hares of the Apocalypse

The Panels: Hares of the Apocalypse

The rabbit totem image comes from a tattoo design I did a few years ago. I used the design to make a tattoo band that I had done on my right upper arm.

White Pelicans and a Goose

On our walk through the se end of Fish Creek park, we came across a group of white pelicans (about 50 or so) sitting by the edge of the river. In amongst this group were a couple of geese. I managed to get at least one goose in the shot. I was a good 100 yards away, on the other side and up on top of the cliff. Trying to keep the camera still without a tripod was difficult, but after about 20 to 30 shots, I did manage a couple of decent results.

The Panels: Into a Deeper Trance

Into a Deeper Trance

This piece combines some new digital work with one of the large four panel acrylic paintings I did a couple of years ago. The painting I used was "In a Trance 1"

Calgary Zoo 2015

Janice and I make a visit to the Zoo at least once a year to update our reference photo images that we use quite frequently in our artwork. Well, Janice does anyway. I use the visits to engage what picture taking skills I have. Over the next few days/weeks, I'll post some of the better shots I was able to get.  Enjoy!

Nose Hill Park and then some...

Walking up the hill, we heard a deep, booming sound. The ground began to shake, rattle and roll. Then looking up...Gojira... towering in the sky...Godzilla...stomping across the prairie grass and all I could think about was..."that was a long swim and a big climb over the Rockies..."

Mask 1345

M 1345

I have not posted a mask image in a while, probably because my designs have been drawn on 24X36 paper. (I draw one half of the mask and then duplicate and flip)
This makes it a little tougher to scan on a 11X17 scanner bed! One could just directly draw through Photoshop, but drawing this big gives my whole arm a workout and allows a more expressive "flow" with the design. Also I do like to work big with my traditional ideas and my masks have now become part of this.

So imagine the image below at roughly the size of a 48X72 (4X6ft) painting.

Lino-Cut Series No. 10

Necklace

I wanted to review what the original title for this series of digital paintings was called:

Digital
Reproduction
Abstract
Compositions
Using
Lino-cut
Abstract
Squares, or
Draculas for short (and, yes, this has nothing to do with that blood-sucking, pale face, pointy teeth count)
