Expressive Series No. 9

Expressive Recycled

going back to the "Expressive" series with this posting. I worked with a bit more of the overlay effect and hues of the traditional primary colors.

A story for you concerning the "primary" colors.  I had submitted a piece over on Deviant Art entitled "primary faces" (if memory serve me correctly) This image consisted of the three primary shapes - square, triangle, and circle and the three primary colors - yellow, blue, and red. Well, one of the comments I got back was that the title was incorrect since the primary colors are CYM (cyan, yellow and magenta) or RGB (red, green and blue)  I asked this person, in reply, if he had ever worked traditionally and if he knew what a color wheel was. He replied back that he would "only work digitally and did not like traditional art of any kind" and "what was a color wheel?"

Well, I don't like to limit myself and I felt a bit sad for this person because I feel he is missing out on ALOT of awesome artwork. Anyway, off the pedestal and back to the artwork.

I came back to this piece several times with a different opinion each time. It took some time for it to feel right. I really love the colors in this and the depth it has.   I had gotten the total number of layers up into the twenties at one point during the process. eventually, through trial and error, additions and subtractions, the final work consisted of about 8 layers before flattened.

Enjoy!!
